(Mission Oaks parks district in Carmichael,
With a population of 72,000, unincorporated Carmichael is located 10 miles Northeast of Sacramento. Carmichael is a historic community that dates back to the early 1900's. The founder was Dan Carmichael, who was the Mayor of Sacramento from 1917-1919. Carmichael has some beautiful outdoor activities. There is a 320 acre 18-hole public golf course that is gorgeous. Also, there is the breathtaking Ancil Hoffman Park which is home to the 77-acre Effie Yeaw Nature Center, a sprawling, pristine nature preserve along the banks of the American River. Within the preserve are nature study areas along with equestrian trails. Along with the Park and nature preserve is the Jensen Botanical Gardens. Within the gardens are rare hybrids of camellias, dogwood, and other flora. Carmichael also has one of only two regional libraries in Sacramento County. Also, the top rated San Juan Unified School district also serves Carmichael. Another jewel of Carmichael is the Chautauqua Playhouse. This theatre provides a full season of comedies, musicals, and dramas. Also, they have a children's theatre with performances held on Saturdays. With beautiful natural surroundings, and close proximity to Sacramento, Carmichael is definitely one of the places to visit, work, or live.
